Ernie is a propeller driven maritime patrol aircraft, he looks for submarines, ships and provides an early warning system with his radome situated under his chin. Ernie can stay on patrol for hours and hours as he can shut down two of his powerful engines and cruise around on the other two. Ernie has two contra-rotating propellers on each engine, this gives him lots of power while saving fuel and extending his range. Ernie is an old slow aircraft and like Billy, does’t appreciate the fast jets mocking him. in fact he gets quite upset!
